Tottenham Hotspur v Leicester City 1961 FA Cup Final The day that another piece of footballing history was created, as Spurs become the first Club in the 20th Century to achieve the treasured League and FA Cup double. Not since Aston Villa in 1897 had this been attained, and with their own brand of attacking football few doubted that Spurs were the finest team in the land. Having won the championship in style, Spurs were odds on favourites to walk away with the cup in their first ever Wembley appearance, but in goal for Leicester that afternoon was a young man named Gordon Banks, who would have his moments of glory beneath the twin towers, but was unable to prevent Spurs from creating history on this occasion.
