Manchester City v Leicester City 1969 FA Cup Final Having won the league championship the previous season, City returned to Wembley eager to add the FA Cup to their impressive list of honours in the late 1960 s. It was a golden era for the Club, as Mercer and Allison watched on from the sidelines, and Summerbee, Bell, Lee and co turned on the style on the pitch. In the weeks leading up to the final, City announced they would be wearing their new change strip of red and black, rather than the traditional sky blue. It was Allison s suggestion, believing that it would give City the kind of invincibility enjoyed by AC Milan.
